HOW TO PLAN, MEASURE &INSTALL WALL MOLDING INYOUR HOME
PLANNING YOUR MOLDING
There are plenty of creative ways to plan out molding, but here are some key things to consider:
Layout and sizing: we provide two specific ideas:
A combination of large and small stacked boxes, two or three pieces.
Wall space and box size:
Think about the size of each wall and how large you want each box to be. For symmetry, try to use an odd number of boxes per wall—unless the wall has windows.
Walls with windows:
Windows can make layout tricky. One box on each side of a window works well because the window itself can visually act as the third box, keeping the rule-of-thirds intact.
Uniformity of box width:
Decide whether all the boxes should be the same width. For example, usually the center boxes are wider than the ones on the ends.
CALCULATING BOX MOLDING DIMENSIONS
Visualize:
Start by using painter’s tape to lay out a few box arrangements directly on the wall. This helps you visualize spacing, proportions, and overall balance before committing to measurements or cuts.
Measure the Wall:
Measure the total width and height of the wall where you’ll install the molding.
Determine Your Spacing:
Choose your preferred spacing between each box and along the wall’s edges. Adjust to fit your design style. Multiply the number of gaps (which is the number of boxes plus one) by your chosen spacing.Example: If you want 3 boxes with 4 inches of spacing, you'll have 4 gaps: 4 gaps × 4 inches = 16 inches of total spacing.
Determine Box Width:
Divide the usable width by the number of boxes:
Example:
o Wall width = 120 inches
o Spacing = 4 inches
o Total spacing = 16 inches
o Usable width = 120 - 16 = 104 inches
o Box width = 104 ÷ 3 = 34.67 inches per box
Adjust for Obstacles
Account for doors, windows, outlets, or other architectural features. You may need to slightly shift or resize boxes for a clean, balanced look.
By following these steps, you can confidently lay out and size your box molding for a polished and symmetrical design.
CUSTOM DESIGN SERVICE
Some projects require a custom approach. Our design services include detailed drawings that show the exact size and spacing of your moldings. This is especially useful for walls with tricky elements like light switches, outlets, or vents.
How to Get Your Customized Drawing:
1. Choose how many walls you’d like us to design ( service is 50$ per wall).
2. After you place your order we will contact you throught email for all the necessary information such as photo of the wall and dimensions.
3. Measurements to prepare:
Measure Height of the wall from the floor to the ceiling.
Measure Height of the baseboard and crown (if such exist).
Measure Length of the wall.
Any other dimensions and location for all objects at the wall, such as thermostat, switches, outlets etc.
Additional Info:
Drawings include suggested spacing based on your exact wall measurements.
One revision is included, if needed.
The design fee is non-refundable once design work is complete—so please measure
carefully.
Please allow up to 5 business days for drawing completion.

INSTALLATION
Peel-and-stick kit, installation is easy—just clean the wall, peel the backing, and
press each piece firmly in place.
Step by step:
1️⃣ Prepare the Surface
Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and smooth. Dust, moisture, or debris can prevent proper adhesion
and compromise the bond.
2️⃣ Remove the Backing
Carefully peel off the protective adhesive backing. Try to avoid touching the adhesive to keep it
clean and effective.
3️⃣ Position and Apply
Align the molding precisely before applying. Once in place, press it firmly against the wall.
Avoid repositioning once adhered, as this may reduce stickiness.
4️⃣ Secure with Pressure
Apply firm, even pressure along the entire length of the molding—pay special attention to the
edges and corners for a secure fit.
Note for Painted Surfaces:
Allow all primer and paint to fully cure for at least 48–72 hours, depending on humidity levels.
Do not clean freshly painted walls with rubbing alcohol or glass cleaners, as this can damage the
finish.
The adhesive will bond effectively to fresh, fully cured paint—no additional cleaning is
needed.
Optional:
Seal the edges with caulk after everything is firmly in place.
Let the caulk dry, then apply paint as the final step, it hides small imperfections,
fills gaps, and gives the entire wall a seamless, finished look. For best results,
apply two coats of paint.
